Today was another exciting day at Seven Islands. We captured 64
birds of 18 species, including 2 new station records: Cedar Waxwing
and Louisiana Waterthrush. The latter didn?t surprise me too much,
because they have pretty much dispersed from Tremont, where we band a
bunch of them.
At least 39 of the birds we handled hatched this year.
As far as sightings go, we added Sharp-shinned Hawk to the list. We
again heard Prothonotary Warbler singing.
We caught: (Newly banded; recaptured; unbanded)
Common Yellowthroat 2;2;2
Cedar Waxwing 1;0;1
Song Sparrow 7;4;1
Indigo Bunting 4;2;1
Grasshopper Sparrow 2;0;1
Willow Flycatcher 0;1;0 (this is the bird from a month ago. The
distal 1/3 of it?s tail is nearly white)
Northern Mockingbird 2;1;0 (color banded)
Northern Cardinal 3;1;0
Field Sparrow 5;2;0
Yellow-breasted Chat 1;1;0
Eastern Wood-pewee 0;1;0
Eastern Phoebe 4;0;0
Brown-headed Cowbird 2;0;0
Red-winged Blackbird 1;0;0
Carolina Wren 3;0;0
Orchard Oriole 1;0;0
House Finch 4;0;0
Louisiana Waterthrush (They?re following me!!!) 1;0;0
