Ensley Bottoms
Mississippi River
Shelby, Tipton Co. TN
Another first or season Wind Bird for me at Ensley was a single Pectoral
Sandpiper that stood for photos. The Least Sandpiper numbers keep increasing
exponentially while I could only find 3 Western Sandpipers, 3 Solitary
Sandpipers and a single Semipalmated. There are still two active Black-necked
Stilt
nests and I finally located 2 family groups, one with 2 young and the other
with 3 almost flying size.
On the Mississippi River, I found 5 Least Sandpipers on Dacus Bar, 9 Least,
3 Western and in Tipton Co, a single Lesser Yellowlegs at Island 35 Chute, 7
Least Sandpipers and a Spotted Sandpiper on Hatchie Bar.
Also found 2 Speckled King Snakes about 20 miles apart, why do species seem
to all move on the same day??
Good Birding!!!
