Doug,
Thanks for the enthusiastic description of the flight of the two bald eaglets
(now eagles) at the Lake Ocoee (Parksville Lake) nest site of Polk County, TN.
It should also be helpful for TWRA, as they of course compile Tennessee's
official eagle nest counts each year. It would be great if we could have such
monitoring reports (from similar non-disturbing distances) for each of
Tennessee's Bald Eagle nests.

Subject: ocoee nestsite( final report for spring 07), sat june 9th 70-80
degrees, cloudy.
11:50 am until 1:50 pm 2 hrs observation (note there was strong storm
yesterday, i was surprised to find both eaglets in nest tree, perhaps security
from yesterdays storm?)
11:50 am one eaglet down in nest, second on branch beside nest.........
12:05 pm suddenly BOTH TAKE FLIGHT! out over water then back over ridge ,
soaring with little flapping, using the wind and thermals, gracefully soaring
higher and higher, masters of the air in one week!
I LOVE IT! both soaring together, no sibling rivalry here...seemed to enjoy
each others companionship....
12:24 one returns to nest tree, the other continues to soar, setting down in
a tree high on the ridge at least a 1000 yds from nest tree..
12:45 pm both adults spotted perched nearby..
1:00 pm one eaglet flew in direction upstream...visitors to viewing area so i
lose position on all four...
!:30 relocate both adults close together in new perch....loss sight of
eaglets....
1:43 pm both eaglets back to the nest tree....
1:50 pm conclude observation, until next spring! LIFE IS GOOD AT OCOEE
NESTSITE!
