[TN-Bird] NC pelagic photos

I've started a gallery of photos taken from this weekend's pelagic trips out
of Hatteras, NC. Jay Desgrosellier and I were on the June 1 & 2 trips; we
were scheduled for June 3 but it was weathered out by Tropical Depression
Barry. The photos are here:
http://csloan.smugmug.com <http://csloan.smugmug.com/> in a gallery
entitled North Carolina Pelagics.
Sadly, I did not get any pics of the highlight bird - a Fea's Petrel on
Friday that passed right by my spotter position up on the pulpit in the
front of the boat, but I had previously stashed my camera in an effort to
improve our luck since the day started slowly. Guess it worked! We had an
uncooperative Trinadad Petrel on Saturday, but a Pomarine Jaeger came so
close to the boat that I was afraid it was going to come after me and take
my food. I have several full-frame photos of that bird in the gallery.
Several TOS members were on the trips, including Rick Knight (Johnson City)
on Friday and Clyde Blum (Signal Mountain) and Russell Fraker (Nashville) on
Saturday.
If you've not ever been on Brian Patteson's trips before, I urge you to try
out a couple. They are superbly run and you will see lots of birds, marine
mammals, and other wildlife. He owns his own boat now, which works great
for these trips, and he has a lot more trips scheduled for the summer. Go
to http://www.seabirding.com <http://www.seabirding.com/> for more
information, or you can email me and I can try and answer your questions.
