Hi folks,
Today I conducted the Mt Olive Breeding Bird Survey route, which goes
between Knox and Blount Counties (If you like to look at numbers on
the computer, this is route 82-040 and the website for BBS routes is
http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/BBS)
This is the 5th year I've run this route, and it was run for many
years before I got here. Wild Turkey was not on the "official route
list" indicating that this species has never been documented on the
route. I certainly haven't had it.
However today I found Wild Turkeys on THREE different stops. This
was exciting. Of course, this being a new species, I felt compelled
to investigate the possibility of caged turkeys, so I had to stop to
look around a bit. I am confident that this was not possbily the
case in 2 of the 3 stops.
Charlie
