[TN-Bird] Good Saturday from Morning to Evening

This was a good birding Saturday for us. The NTOS group allowed us to join
them at Bark Camp Barrens WMA area in Coffee County and we had the best ever
views of Henslow's Sparrows. Looking at a male singing 50 feet away through a
spotting scope confirmed in minute' detail what a gorgeous bird this is.
After returning home we went out on the deck in the afternoon to watch the
Ruby-throated Hummingbirds swarm the feeders. Suddenly an American Bittern
flew across the southwest end of the yard and landed in a tree not 75 yards
away. It immediately went into its classic stealth pose and looked completely
foolish doing it in the top of a 50 foot tall tree. I hurriedly set up the
spotting scope and got four very grainy digiscoped pictures before it flew
away. We never thought our 130th yard bird might be an American Bittern; it
was also our first time to see one in DeKalb County. What a wonderful day!
