Yesterday morning while on my way to conduct a point count survey I heard a
persistent "che-beck" call from inside a loblolly pine stand. I located the
Empidonax flycatcher in the maple trees underneath the pines (fairly open)
foraging for insects. This late sighting is only the second confirmed sighting
of Least flycatcher on the base since 1999.
