I have long wanted to take on such a project, but of course finding time and
funding is an issue.  I'd be willing to make the time if say the TOS, TWRA,
etc. would grant myself and others some money to buy/ acquire the materials,
build the boxes, talk with barn owners and install and monitor them for a
specified period.  I applied for this type of project, only it was for
prothonotary nest boxes along the lower French Broad, Holston and Tennessee
Rivers/ Fort Loudoun reservoir, but the grant went to another project.  I
went ahead and put a few up and have observed at least two of the four I put
up are being used by breeding prothonotaries. 

I recall a tn birds email from a while back, maybe a year or two, with a
barnowl project or interest.   

It would be fun. Bird On!
