[TN-Bird] Fw: Re: river trips in West TN

Carol and Charlie,

Chota Canoe Club in Knoxville hasn't led a flatwater canoe or kayak trip
to West Tennessee in a long time, if ever. They are almost exclusively
dedicated to Appalachian and Cumberland Plateau streams. If you are looking
for a paddling club in the flatlands of the western part of the state, a
much better contact is the Bluff City Canoe Club in Memphis, TN at:

www.bluffcitycanoeclub.org

By the way, just to make this a legitimate birding post, there should be
great birding from a canoe or kayak on the west TN streams you mentioned.

Carol, and others,

I'm posting this to the list because, even though it's not about
birds, I thought others who saw her question may be interested.

There is an east Tennesse paddling group called Chota. They do
mostly white water, but there are some flat water paddlers there,
too. Friendly folks, many of whom are into nature. Most love to
help people who are new to paddling, or new to the area, and they are
good about sharing information on different rivers.

the URL is: http://www.korrnet.org/chota/

Good luck!

And just to make this post "legal," paddling the reservoirs along the
Little Tennessee is a great way to bird. Tracey and I have paddled
Cheoah, Calderwood and Fontana, and always had pleasant times.
