Ensley Bottoms
Shelby, Co. TN
Early this morning the female Godwit was found in the same pool but not
feeding as ravenously. At 7:30 the bird jumped up and circled twice before
coming
back in to land among the ducks that were preening and resting.
When the rain came I went out to meet Sonny Gray, he was coming up to try for
the bird for his Lifer Hudsonian. When he arrived I put the truck in 4 wheel
drive and we located the bird feeding away in the rain.
I have posted 4 more photos taken today with comments on the birds plumage
and a shot of what I think is an unusual combination of species to have on the
sixth of June in TN.
After I left the pits I traveled south toward clearer skies to get out of the
rain and located and photographed what is probably Mississippi's FIRST
WESTERN KINGBIRD NEST. I'll put together a page on the bird sometime tonight.
Good Birding!!!
