Jan Shaw and I birded the Chattanooga area today.

We found the Roseate Spoonbill on US Hiway 27 about two
tenths of a mile south of Thrasher Rd. It was out in the 
open standing beside a small lake no more than fifty yards
from the road. We watched it for several minutes until a
Great Blue Heron flew in and the spoonbill beat a hasty
retreat. This is in Hamilton County, just north of Chattanooga.

Standifer Gap Marsh was our next stop. A Willow Flycatcher
was fitz-bewing away, a Least Bittern flyby was a treat and
listening to a Virginia Rail calling was great.

On our was back to Nashville we detoured in South Pittsburg
to look for the Sissor-tailed Flycatcher. We located the bird
on Railroad St. There is a baseball field next door to the
Lodge Plant, which is on Sixth St. The bird was flycatching
from a fence right behind first base.

It was a fun day.
