Great River Road MM #19
Dyer Co. TN
When Frank Fekel and I watched the Glossy Ibis fly up from feeding and meet
another dark Ibis last Saturday, the two birds circled once and they quickly
went separate ways. I said the other bird was probably a White-faced Ibis. If
it
had been another Glossy I would think they would have stayed together.
Well, Ken Leggett, Glen Criswell and Nancy Moore have just located (1:15 PM)
a White-faced Ibis feeding at mile marker #19 on the Great River Road in Dyer
Co. It just gets better and better up that way..............
If you listed, 11- Black-bellied Whistling Ducks, 9 Fulvous Whistling Ducks,
both Glossy and White-faced Ibis, breeding plumaged Tri-colored Heron,
multiple Bald Eagles plus American White Pelicans, Black Duck, a Basic plumaged
American Golden-Plover, Willet, Ruddy Turnstone, Black Terns, Eurasian
Collared-Dove, with Scissor-tailed Flycatcher, Least Bittern, Black-necked
Stilt and
Blue-winged Teal nesting, all from one small area in the first week of June;
one
would be hard pressed to guess where the list came from and NW Tennessee would
probably not be high on the list.
Good Birding!!!
