[TN-Bird] Re: Swainson's thrush, Cedar Waxwings

Jeff Wilson & I had a Swainson's Thrush at Eagle Lake Refuge in Shelby
County on June 3, 1995 while conducting a Big Day count. I also remember
having one singing at Yazoo NWR in Mississippi the first week of June back
in 1992. I'm sure that both were probably straggling migrants.
On another note I've still got 3 or 4 Cedar Waxwings hanging around my
yard. They seem to be spending the majority of their time in a row of
Loblolly Pines in my yard. I watched yesterday as one bird continually
chased another bird through the trees in the yard. It was almost acting
as if it were being territorial. They were also giving a different
variation on their call note than the one that I am familiar with. They
were paying me no attention whatsoever and on a couple of occasions flew
within 5 or 6 feet of where I was standing! I will keep a close eye on
them just in case they might be getting ready to nest.
Good birding,

Subject: [TN-Bird] Swainson's thrush
I heard a Swainson's thrush singing yesterday morning (June 2) while
conducting point counts on Fort Campbell (Montgomery county, TN). This is
a fairly late date for middle TN as Robinson's 'Checklist of the Birds of
TN' mentions June 3, 1940 as a late date for the Nashville area.
