We had a coon last year that would take off with full suet baskets in the 
middle of the night.  I caught the critter in the act at 3 a.m.  Sometimes I 
was lucky enough to find the baskets in the woods, empty of course.  On two 
occasions I was unable to find them at all.  This past winter I did find one of 
the missing hanging about 30' up a tree (its still there).   
Once I started bringing the suet in at night the coon went away.  Then I got 
smart and moved the two baskets I use closer to the dog, for her to protect 
them.  The squirrels out smart her every now and then, when they tag team.  She 
doesn't seem to mind the flying squirrel that feeds in the middle of the night 
(maybe she refuses to work overtime).

I went out one morning earlier this week to find three feeders on the
ground under one tree. One, a platform feeder I had made, was torn
apart.
I set a live trap and yesterday morning found a rabbit in it.  I
suspected strongly that the rabbit wasn't guilty of the feeder damage,
so I set the trap again last night.  This  morning I went out to find an
agressive raccoon in a high state of agitation due to severe "teasing"
from our two 100lb. plus Labs.  We've lived at this location seven years
and have never had such damage before.  I'm wondering if others have had
such experiences
with 'coons.

The little masked bandit has now been removed from the area but, just to
be safe, I'll set the trap again tonight.
