On Sunday April 29 I led a Tennessee Aquarium members program to the
Cravens House, including the program participants, 18 birders were
present at the Cravens House. And of course it was probably the slowest
migrant day I have witnessed for late April on Lookout Mountain. But on
April 30 Jim Eager, Clyde Blum and I got to experience the best movement
of migrating passerines of the spring. We ended up the day with 95
species, we had to quit early and never even made it to the Brainerd
Levee. Highlights included:

Cravens House:

1 LINCOLNS'S SPARROW (only second record for Cravens and the very first
in my yard!)

1 male Black-throated Blue Warbler (always a rare migrant in our area)

2 Cape May Warbler (first of the year for Cravens)

1 Magnolia (" " ")

3 Blackburnian

2 Nashville

3 Kentucky (first of year for Cravens)

4 Chestnut-sided

2 Blue-winged

12 Black-throated Green

6 Black and White

1 Worm-eating

4 Ovenbird

1 Common Yellowthroat

6 Hooded

1 Canada

6 Yellow-rumped

Others:

1 Summer Tanager (first of year for Cravens)

8 Scarlet Tanager

3 Baltimore Oriole (first of year)

1 Swainson's Thrush (first of year)

4 Veery

3 Wood Thrush

8 Eastern Wood Peewee (did not have a single one on April 29!)

4 vireo species

20 Rose-breasted Grosbeak

1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird

2 Gray Catbird

18 Indigo Bunting
