American Bittern, 0, in a 3-hour wade completely around the marsh
Least Bittern, 1, finally saw it, in cattails just south of main body of water,
near beaver dam, where it has been singing since May 4.
King Rail, 1, still showing off, Ed Byrne (Nashville) and Bill and Betty
Wampler all had long views
Virginia Rail, 6+, harder to see now
Sora, 4+, also harder to see
Bobolink: some of the TOS group were noticing most of the Bobolinks were males
and wondered if males arrive first and females later. Today for the first fime
there were almost all females. They stayed mostly in the foot high clover, but
flew around enough to be fairly easily noticed from a car or from a distance
(about noon).
4/28 4 males
5/1 about 9 males and 3 females
5/2 at least 25, almost all males
5/4 7 males
5/10 4-6 males and 30-40 females
