[TN-Bird] New Yard Bird

Laurie and I spent about 10 minutes on the front steps this morning and
had a bit of excitement. We don't get many new yard birs after living
in the same place for 12 years so we were pleased to have a bobolink
fly over on its way to Boyd's Island. The island is used by UT for
agricultural research. Most years it is planted in corn, but this
seems to be a year for hay.
The big excitment for me was watching a male prothonotary warbler
checking out nest boxes in the front yard! He sang as he flew from an
unoccupied box to a box with a family of chickadees. I haven't checked
the status of the chickadee family, but they should be close to
fledging. It would be truley sweet if the prothonotary would find a
lady friend and move in!
