In the past 1.5 weeks, a Wood thrush, Summer tanager, and Chuck-will's
widow have begun singing, seemingly on territory; along with the first
Raincrow. Also had Red-eyed, Philly, and Yellow-throated vireos (and
Solitary earlier this year; just need White-eyed and Warbling to round
out the set!). And, darn it, the first BH cowbird. Oddly, no hummers
yet, and while the warbler/grosbeak/bunting/etc. flythrough usually
seems to coincide with the tulip poplar bloom here, I haven't heard as
many as I expected. Playing hookey today to work out in my yard so maybe
the migrants will grace me with their presence.

TN-Birders,
While out "dry-land fishing" (looking for morel mushrooms) yesterday, I
heard my first "Rain Crow" (Yellow-Billed Cuckoo) of the season.  The
woodland songs , though, just aren't complete until the Wood Thrush and
Yellow-Breasted Chat return.
