[TN-Bird] Radnor Lake May 8 and 9

Back from Arizona, I made it to Radnor Lake in Nashville on
Thursday and Friday to find modest numbers of migrating warblers.
Out west some birders were complaining about the lack of migrants
although there was certainly a good variety of species.

On Thursday I found good numbers of thrushes at Radnor and
several Philadelphia Vireos on both days. Over the 2 days I had
14 species of warblers, but in talks with other birders at least 4
additional species were seen. Currently Tennessee and Blackpoll
Warblers are the most vocal and Magnolias are beginning to increase
in numbers. If only the sun would shine I am sure there would
have been increase activity, but alas, I birded under cloudy skies
on both days.

I only walked from the West parking lot to Long Bridge, not all
the way around the lake. Nevertheless, I was concerned that I
did not hear a Prothonotary Warbler on Thursday since they nest
at Radnor. Today one certainly made its presence known. Also
surprising, I did not hear or see a White-eyed Vireo on either day.

NO Mourning or Connecticut Warblers were heard or seen. Perhaps
Chris Sloan will find one tomorrow when he does the spring count
for the Radnor Lake area.
