[TN-Bird] Shock & awe...

I work in Jackson and the destruction here is unbelievable.

11 dead including 3 children, almost 200 homes either heavily damaged or

totally destroyed, and another 200+ with minor damage.

A large Black Oak tree about 60 feet tall was totally uprooted in front of the

building where I work. This was the same tree that the Warbling Vireo stayed

in all of last summer and had returned to again this year. I work over in the

Industrial Park area and if there was ever a reason not to plant a Bradford

Pear tree - just come look around here - almost every single one was snapped

off here in the Industrial Park. I'm talking probably 50 or more of them and

 very few are salvageable.

Again I'm just thankful that my family and I were unharmed. We did take refuge

in the hall under a mattress on Monday night as the tornado sirens sounded in

nearby Trenton. I'm ready for sunshine!

Hopefully the weather will be better by Saturday for the North American

 Migration Counts.

 Good birding,
