[TN-Bird] Organizing notes - just an idea

I have seen some interaction about these lost archives and questions about
organizing them. I work for our family trucking company and I used to have to
deal with a stack of documents or stacks of files of documents and it was a
real headache to the point that I hated my job. But I have discovered
something which helps me organize everything and keep it all neat and orderly
and I can do my work much better. I buy those vinyl folders and plastic
inserts with the holes already punched in them. The papers fit into those
inserts and I can even put papers together without staples or paperclips.

I can put driver's receipts for the same trip all in one insert - fuel
receipts, maintenance, toll tickets, etc and not have to put staples to keep
all that together. I can keep the Comdata fuel reports altogether in books -
one for every month. I can put all the maintenance records for each truck
together in the same kind of "book" and then I can put these "books" on a
shelf. I use the same organization method to keep my genealogy records. It
keeps even original documents clean and dry and easy to access.

Maybe somebody's already thought of this or a better way to organize those
archives but just thought I would suggest it - if it would help. I can
definitely vouch for this method of keeping records. It works great for me I
know.

I get them at Office Max and they are actually pretty reasonable. I don't use
the tabs in any of mine but you could use those in combination. I use labels
to stick on the binder so I know what is inside. I have 5 different checking
accounts, 5 different cash accounts, 5 fuel, 5 credit card, etc to keep track
of and I couldn't keep all of that straight if I didn't have my binders and
plastic inserts.

Happy Birding
