[TN-Bird] Radnor Lake, Saturday morning

Hi all,
My husband Richard and I went to Radnor Lake in Nashville early this chilly
morning. Very close to the parking lot at the Otter Creek Visitor Center we
saw a young possum posing on a grape vine over the stream. It was cute, so
Richard went back to the car and got the camera. We took a couple of
pictures. That was about 7:15.
Later, we left the park after seeing a total of 54 species including a lone
Osprey
hunting over the lake. When we came back along the same road to the parking
lot,
we were surprised to see the possum still on the same vine, it was 11:45!
As we glanced at the bedraggled looking possum we saw the reason for his
bewilderment. A Tufted Titmouse had been on the far side of his back. When
it moved on to the top of the possum's back, we could see the tiny bird with
a
large tangle of possum fur in its beak! We scrambled to get another picture,
and though the bird stayed and plucked and pulled hair from the possum for
several minutes, I am not sure of the quality of picture that I got, because
it moved so quickly, and mainly stayed on the far side of the possum. What a
treat! Many people stopped to see what we were taking pictures of and they
were also entertained by this little mischievous Titmouse!
