[TN-Bird] Home again!

Seems like forever since I posted anything. I've not gotten out to do any
birding much, so I've had to be content with whatever shows up in my back
yard...
There has been a pair of Barred Owls calling nightly- starting with the "who
cooks for you" in the early evening. Later in the night, they get incredibly
loud and vocal, calling and answering each other. I've not seen them yet, but
just sitting on the porch and listening to them has been delightful.
Yesterday, several male and female Rose-breasted Grosbeaks arrived. They've
been out there off an on all day today, eating sunflower seeds.
But for me, the highlight of spring, is the arrival of "my" Red-headed
Woodpeckers. Just this moment I was not disappointed, as they flew in for the
first time. This makes the 4th season they have come to nest in my backyard.
They always arrive between April 30th and May 5th, and they leave in
September for warmer places. Each summer they bring their young to the
feeders, affording me an up close and personal look at these beautiful birds.
I feel so lucky to have them come home again.
