[TN-Bird] That Time of Year

TN-Birders,

This has to be the most awesome time of the year. I look forward to Spring's
renewal every year with amazement at the sights, scents and sounds we're
fortunate to experience.

We live in a small clearing surrounded by several hundred acres of woodland on
the north side of Dale Hollow Lake.
A typical day has many species of birds, insects, reptiles and an abundance of
wildlife for us to see and hear.

I look forward to "our" migrants' return each year. Tuesday I was fishing on
the lake when I heard the resonant sounds of a Wood Thrush carrying across the
water while we waited for the fish to bite. The first one of the year is
always a pleasant surprise. Tuesday night we left a bedroom window open and
were awakened Wednesday morning by our first Yellow-Breasted Chat. Whoever
wrote the description of its sounds in our field guide sure had it right. I've
never heard such a mixed up bunch of chatter anywhere else. Then, last night
as I was walking from our barn to the house, just about dark thirty, I heard
our first Whip-Poor-Will. We look forward to them and the Chuck Will's Widow's
also each year.

Well, that gets sights and sounds.......for scents, just try sitting on the
front porch while a breeze blows through a Holly tree in full bloom.......

All this couldn't have happened accidentally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
