The Carolina wren puts on the "teakettle"
The towhee picks it up
"Drink your tea", he says to me
And offers me a cup

The indigo bunting "swishes" and "sweeps"
The cobwebs from my brain
The robin sings, "Cheerily, cheery, come on cheer up now!
There's no more winter rain."

At night I'm lullabyed to sleep
By the cry of the whip-poor-will
And awakened by the happy house finch
Sitting on my windowsill.

The summer residents have returned
My long await is through
They fill my days and nights with joy
As I hope they do for you.
