 While camping on Camp Creek Bald in Green County, TN on Monday, May 6,
2002, I heard what was probably a Long-eared Owl calling in the distance. 
Itgave a single "hoot" and than a long pause and than another "hoot". 
Sibleysays that they "hoot" every three seconds.  This bird did not do this. 
I did not recognize it as any other owl species.   About a week before this,
while on a Lee and Lois Herndon TOS Chapter field trip to Rich Mountain
(Green County I believe), Larry Mcdaniel heard what he thought was a
Long-eared Owl.   What do we know about Long-eared Owls in East TN during
