[tn-bird] B&W Warbler Nest, Hampton, TN

On April 30, Bryan Stevens, birding with Reece Jamerson and Howard Langridge
in the woods near his home in Hampton, TN, found a pair of Black-and-white
Warblers and their nest on the ground on a sloping ridge near some large
trees, including Hemlocks. There is not much in the way of understory beneath
the trees where the nest is located.
The female, in particular, would enter the nest frequently. The male would
approach the nest, but didn't ever enter it while we watched. We did not
investigate directly, so as not to disturb the birds or the nest site. The
birds didn't carry any food while we were watching.
In addition to the Black-and-whites, we had sightings of singing male N.
Parula, Ovenbirds and Hooded Warbler as well as a Red-eyed Vireo.
Bryan Stevens,
Hampton, TN
