Trenton, Gibson Co.
On Monday night, April 7, I was out in my yard, in the
Mt. Orange community just west of Trenton, feeding my
dogs when I heard the distinctive foraging scream of a
Barn Owl in the field next to my yard. The bird called
3-4 times. I periodically hear Barn Owls hunting at
night when I'm out in the yard. They even nested in my
neighbors old storage building a few years ago. There
were also 2 Great Horned Owls calling from not far
away.
Purple Martins now number 20+ at the gourd colony in
my yard. Eastern Bluebird nesting is well underway
with the three bluebird nest boxes in the yard now
having clutches of eggs. Carolina Chickadees have
taken up nesting in the 4th box where there is a nest
but no eggs yet.
Yesterday, April 8, I had a singing Pine Warbler just
west of Trenton on Hwy. 104.
Good birding,
Mark Greene
Trenton, Tn
Gibson County
