A Black Scoter tried to hide among the 54 Lesser and 6 Greater Scaup today
at TVA Lake. In the photos the bird did not look anything like the other Blacks
that had been at the lake over the winter but it may have just been in ratty
transition plumage.
Other lingering birds photographed were; a Krider's adult, a dark morph and
a light calurus Red-tail all running a little late. Both Bald Eagles were on
their nest and appeared to be feeding young while the Great Horned Owls have
left their nest and the Red-tails sit tight. A hand full of shorebirds were
widely scattered but the big numbers were just south of Memphis in flooded
fields. Golden-Plovers, Least, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs plus one Solitary
were I ferreted out in Ensley.
Good Birding !!!

What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens.
