While hiking and photographing in Cade's Cove today, (Great Smoky Mt.s NP)
highlights
were my first Spring YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER singing along the Bote Mt. Trail
entrance. In the fields that have been recently burned over I had (2) Vesper
Sparrows and much to my surprise (2) HORNED LARKS calling and displaying mating
behaviour in the field along Hyatt Lane area. I watched them quite awhile.
Several Louisiana Waterthrush were heard along Little RIver road, as well as 3
BLACK THROATED GREEN WARBLERS, near the back of the campground, picnic area.
Later in the afternoon on Brush Hollow Rd near Townsend I had my first Spring
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER.
