Standifer gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton County
April 25, 2007 9:00 - 11:30 AM
Least Bittern, 0 seen or heard so far this spring, 1 half-completed nest today
Green Heron, 2 to 4 (1 or 2 pairs apparently courting)
Black-crowned Night Heron? quick view against light, too small for Great Blue,
too large for Green, too slender for American Bittern, must be night heron,
and
saw one there a few days ago.
Blue-winged Teal, 3 to 4 pairs
Virginia Rail, 4 to 5 sounding
Sora, flushed 2, heard 2 to others
Eastern Kingbird, at least 2, looking territorial
Blue Grosbeak, 1, usual location between road and old caboose
Orchard Oriole, 3 to 4 singing males
