Sightings Report 5-7 April Collierville Area, Shelby County
Location:     TN 1 Cvll, Frank Rd Landfill Greenbelt Park

Observation date:     4/5/07,640-730pm

Notes:     Short walk through the Landfill. Killdeer have begun nesting in
the leaf mulch piles. Found a nest with two eggs, broken wing act displayed
very well. Solitary had set down to feed with the killdeer in the shallow
water of the leaf pile puddles which also have attracted several ducks. Cold
and windy.

Observation date:     4/6/07, Daylong monitoring

Notes:     1st Hummers of the season. One female early in the afternoon and
a male showed up late. Red-shouldered Hawks making a racket in the woods.

Location:     TN 1 Cvll, Peterson Lake Nature Center

Observation date:     4/7/07,1045am-215pm

Notes:     COLD this morning even with the sun at midday. Wind was still
abit strong.and cold. Warblers starting to show themselves as they attack
the catapilars in the newley leafed out trees. Walked the boardwalk and the
primative trail to the wastewater plant through the bottoms. The normal
access path(a forest rd) is still to muddy/flooded to use. in fact halfway
down a beaver has decided since there was a big puddle in the rd he was
going to keep it that way by daming up the rd and surrounding area. Now
there is a nice pond in the middle of the forest.
