[TN-Bird] Purple finch, etc.

Greetings,
Here in the Charlotte Park area of West Nashville, I've had a male purple
finch feeding during much of the afternoon. A little while ago, a house
sparrow took a massive dislike to the fellow and started chasing him all around
the
deck pecking at him and trying to start a fight or chase him away. The
purple finch finally flew off into a hackberry tree. I have never seen
battles
between the house sparrows and my usual house finches or with any previous
purple finch. I have noticed, however, than past purples have come to the
feeder primarily when the other two species are NOT there. Right now, Mr.
Purple
is back for a morsel or two with two house finches and a chipping sparrow.
What a contrast he is beside the house finches! They've just flown away, and
the chickadees are feeding on the deck in this breeze which is swinging the
feeders sort of wildly.
One red-winged blackbird came to feed on seed today; the other 40 or so
stayed in the hackberry trees.
May you all have a blessed Easter or Passover, and super birding to all over
the COLD weekend of a Dogwood Winter. 23 degrees tomorrow??????
Brrrrr!!!!!
