[TN-Bird] FOS Rubythroat (Moore Co)
- From: Laura Jennings McCall <lmccall@xxxxxxxx>

I had my first sighting of a Rubythroated Hummingbird today, April 1. A
beautiful male made two appearances (one brief, one extended) at the
Coral Honeysuckle in my backyard. This is the earliest I've ever had a
hummingbird in my yard. Then again, it's the first year that I've had
this native honeysuckle in full bloom at this early date--it actually
flowered all through the winter!
Another first--my first live reptile of the year (I've seen a couple of
roadkill snakes, but those don't really count): a Five-lined Skink in
my compost bin.
My neighbors have Purple Martins, but so far none has checked in to our
Martin "Villa." I'm having quite a time keeping the Starlings away...
Hurray for spring!
