[TN-Bird] Upper Douglas SPP

Douglas Lake, Cocke County
4:00-7:30 PM; April 1, 2007
Lake elevation: 970.3
The lake is just starting to back into Rankin Bottoms, which still isn't
showing much mud or open water. We looked for birds from Rankin Bridge to
Dutch Bottoms. Best numbers and variety were seen from Brown Hollow Road.
Partial list:
Wood duck (25)
Mallard (18)
Blue-winged teal (4)
Green-winged teal (9)
D.-c. cormorant (27)
Osprey (8)
Am. kestrel
Killdeer (3)
Least sandpiper (19)
"peep" - (one last, but not least, sandpiper. Semipalm? Baird's? -a dim &
distant view)
Ring-billed gull (5)
Tree swallow (8)
Cliff swallow (15)
Blue-gray gnatcatcher (FOS)
