In our yard the first Blue-gray Gnatcatcher showed up yesterday, March 5. 
Otherwise the winter friends are still here, Junco, White-throated sparrows, 
Red-breasted nuthatch, Yellow-rumped warblers in particular.  Bluebirds and 
Phoebes are mating, and others are chasing about. The hummingbird feeders are 
out, 
but no visitors yet. We just had the fun of showing Eastern birds to two 
Californians and enjoying Cardinals and Bluejays through new enthusiastic eyes.
