Eagle Lake and Ensley Bottoms
Shelby Co. TN
After finding my FOS Snowy Egret on Saturday, Sunday produced a single
Little Blue Heron at Eagle Lake and another 9 did a fly over at Ensley. Single
Green Herons showed up at both locations.
The downtown terror (Peregrine) was feasting on a high sign Sunday morning
but disappeared into the canyons between the buildings not to be relocated. If
there is a nest, there should be some feeding going on soon. The Mississippi
River has fallen some 15 foot after a 20 foot rise and now Dacus Bar has
reappeared. Hopefully the Peregrines will again take up their perches so
locating and following them might be easier.
Both of the Bald Eagles were present but only one made a trip to the future
nest site. The rest of the time they sat close together in another tree or
soared together above the bluff. There was little progress made on the nest but
a few branches had been added. This looks like it is going to be a long,
drawn out process but I hope they just keep plugging.
Good Birding !!!
