April 2, Sunday I traveled through Western Greene Co. between 1430 and
1800 Sunday. I started at Don Miller's blackbird stop, on rt. 340, .2 mile
west of Turner lane. Success, 15 BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS in a plowed field next
to the road, including 4 dark eyed females. I next journied to the Beulah
section of the Lick Creek WMA and found 12 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS on the back side
in the flooded ditches. I also had at Beulah: Greater Yellowlegs 4
Solitary Sandpiper Northern Harrier Red-tailed Hawk Wood Duck 14
Canada Goose 2 Savannah Sparrow Swamp Sparrow 4 Field, Song and
White-throated Sparrow. I finished the day at J.Bible Lick Creek WMA. and
found 17 Wilson's snipe, 2 N. harriers, another Savannah Sparrow, 10 more
Rusty Blackbirds, the barn owl still in the TWRA barn. Of course my
blackbird pie included a good portion of Red-wings, Grackles, Brown-headed
Cowbirds and Meadowlarks. Keep on brdn. Ben Britton Hamblen Co.
