This is Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the Chattanooga
Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society.

This is Update Number #4 made on April 1, 2005.

The phone portion of the RBA is still out of service. I am still working on
it.

The Brainerd Levee (Hamilton co.) has been a good place for early migrants
over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday afternoon (March 31) I (Kevin
Calhoon) birded at the levee. Some of the highlights included:

- 4 Solitary Sandpiper

- 3 Greater Yellowlegs

- 3 Lesser Yellowlegs

- 7 Pectoral Sandpiper

- 9 Wilson's Snipe

- 12 Killdeer

- 2 American Pipits

- 1 Northern Rough-winged Swallow

Here are some other interesting migrant reports:

- First Blue-headed Vireo reported by David Aborn in Hamilton co.
on March 16 and Libby Wolfe had another in Ooltewah on March 23.

- First report of Ruby-throated Hummingbird was on March 26 by
Ellen Whitaker on Lookout Mountain and Carol Fegarido in Ooltewah.

- First report of Black-throated Green Warbler was from Libby Wolfe
in Ooltewah on March 30.

- The very first report of Blue-gray Gnatcatcher was by Tanya Iles
in Brainerd on March 15.

- David Aborn banded three Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and a early
Red-eyed Vireo at Greenway Farms along North Chickamauga Creek on March 30.

The next general meeting of the Chattanooga TOS will be on April 7 at 7:00
PM at Accension Luthern Church, 720 South Germantown Rd.

Get out in the Field and let me know what you see!
