[TN-Bird] Ramsay Cascades, Great Smokies

Hi folks,

Today I hiked Ramsay Cascades Trail in the Greenbrier section of
Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Sevier County, TN)

The big highlight (other than the usual beautiful Ramsay Fork and old
growth forest, which make the trip MORE than worthwhile) was
wildflowers. I had 33 species, including some first of year's. If
you're interested in those, check out the Butternuts listserv.

As for birds:
Ruffed Grouse (there were 2 adults at the same spot, which I've never
seen before - lek site?)
Wild Turkey
Blue Headed Vireo
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
MANY Black-throated Green Warblers (I always consider this to be
"the" bird of the Smokies)
Louisiana Waterthrush
at least 5 *singing* Winter Wrens - I think that song closely rivals
that of the various thrushes for beauty, and ability to impress.
Carolina (but no Black-capped) Chickadee

and my first of season sighting: 2 male Scarlett Tanagers.

Charlie
