[TN-Bird] Wood Duck Report!

Roy & I live on a ridge that is so dry, even after a 4" rainfall, we can find
it dry enough to dig, plant....and we're far away from a body of water that
would ever appeal to such a bird as the wood duck. However, as I was eating
breakfast this a.m., a bird flew up and I thought, "good golly, that looked
like a duck..."
[Recalling my suspicion of other's sanity when my wonderful friends, the
Brinkhursts, had reported their wood duck sighting in their woods...hmmm...]
I dismissed it with a "funky mourning dove..." Then it began to move its head
in a way that I knew...the binoculars confirmed my sighting of wood ducks...a
pair. She investigated a cavity for a bit and he stood on a nearby tree limb,
calling. This indeed was a first we've seen here in our wooded yard!
