[TN-Bird] Whooper Update
- From: OLCOOT1@xxxxxxx
- To: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
- Date: Wed, 7 Apr 2004 07:45:53 EDT
Copied from Georgia site, reported by Jeff Catlin:
All 8 of the juvenile Whooping Cranes (Ultracranes) are resting comfortably
in
a remote area in southwest Ohio. Even the one that struck the power line when
flushed from the river, appears to be no worse for the wear.
Richard Urbanek, the US Fish & Wildlife officer tracking them, reported that
they are safe and well away from the public.
Maybe the young birds got "educated" and are going to be a little more
discriminating when picking their stop-over sites.
Good Birding!!!
