I travelled to a few trustworthy spots in the Midway/Mohawk area of
Greene County this morning in hopes of finding some interesting migrants
or spring arrivals.  I had no luck on the latter but did pretty well on
the former, to wit:

Least Sandpiper (2, Green Road);
Vesper Sparrow (2, Jim Kirk Road).

In checking my records this evening, I discovered that my previous early
date for Least Sandpiper in Greene County was April 20, which is
surprisingly late for such a regular and fairly common transient.
Today's Vesper Sparrows were right in line with several other
observations over the last few years, including six birds seen on April
1 in 2002.
