TO: All Non-subscribers TN-Birds:

Effective today, Wednesday, April 9, at midnight TN-Birds will be closed to
all posting by persons who are non-subscribers of TN-Birds Net. 

All persons who wish to post to the TN-Birds net must be properly subscribed
to the TN-Birds net listserver with the e-mail address with which they
intend to post.  Messages sent to the list from any other e-mail address
will be discarded without response to you.

Several non-subscribers read the daily posting of TN-Birds at various
archived websites and, from time to time, attempt to post to the list.  This
forces the list owner to moderate those messages and manually approve those
which are acceptable for posting to the list.

In addition,  TN-Birds is constantly receiving virus propogation messages
and advertising spam from many automated messages being sent to the list.
The owner has to read and manually reject this constant flow.  With the new
policy, these messages will largely be discarded by the automation of this
list's software.

There are security issues for TN-Birds that I hope will be addressed by the
automation of this process.

Thanks for reading the TN-Birds list and we hope you will properly subscribe
and continue to participate in this forum.
