While cleaning up the mess left by the power company (they had to run over a 
holly bush to avoid the septic tank--our power pole broke off at ground 
level Monday 1 a.m. and sent the transformer crashing to the ground causing 
it to ooze mysterious fluids.  They scratched their heads at this situation 
since the pole had been in the ground only 12 years) I looked up to see 3 
awesomely beautiful male Scarlet Tanagers feeding high up in a early leafed 
out tree in the yard at my home in Perry County.  Grabbed the binoculars and 
shared these wonders with my husband and his friend who exclaimed, "Them 
cardinals ain't got nothin on those bad boys!"

I guess it made the mess worthwhile.
