Cove Lake State Park/ Campbell County, TN
Cloudy/Light rain and drizzle apx. 50 dg.
Yesterday ( 4-7-03) at mid-day there was a nice raft of ducks in the
overly
flooded Cove Lake. 43 LESSER SCAUP, 12 RUDDY DUCKS and 4 BUFFLEHEAD were
a nice surprise. A Pied-Billed Grebe was also seen, the first all winter
since the lake has filled back up from being drained. Also, 4
GREAT EGRETS were wading about in the pools of water in the fields along
with 2 GREAT YELLOWLEGS.
2 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS were in the Cedars behind the Campground
area.
I have checked each morning the last week for Prothonotary and Swainsons
Warbler, with none yet heard. Yellow-Throated Warblers and Blue-GrayGnat
Catchers were numerous. Yellow-Rumps were singing.
