At a little after 5 PM yesterday, I saw a "little something" flitting around 
the buds of one of my hackberry trees.  I honed in on a gorgeous male 
white-eyed vireo which was feeding among the buds.  In a moment, the bright 
sun peeped through the clouds from the West and seemingly cast a spotlight on 
this little creature which responded to the sudden stream of light by 
starting to preen a bit.  He stayed still only as long as the sun was on him, 
and as soon as it "snuck" behind a cloud, my little white-eye resumed his 
feeding activity then flew to another tree out back and out of sight.

The white throat and the junco are still here off and on.  This morning, my 
white throat was singing up a storm back in the trees.  Wonder if he has been 
banished from Bell's Bend where I think they live in summer and is still here 
in hopes that a little girlfriend will come traveling through?
