[tn-bird] osprey, pine siskins, Louisiana waterthrush in Knoxville

Yesterday morning (Tuesday 4/2/02) an OSPREY flew over my house off Lyon's
Bend in Knoxville. Osprey nested across the river at the UT Plant Sciences
Farm last year on a platform erected by TVA, KTOS, and the UT student
chapter of The Wildlife Society. That platform was knocked down sometime
over the fall or winter (storm, or vandalism?). The osprey that flew over
yesterday was headed up river and showed no plans to circle around checking
out potential nest sites.
PINE SISKINS are still visiting my thistle feeder with up to 3 stopping by
yesterday. I've had 1-6 at the feeder since Christmas.
A male PINE WARBLER has been hitting the suet feeder regularly since late
fall. Probably the same male pine warbler overwintered in my neighborhood
last year as well.
On Sunday (3/31) I was surprised to add a new yard bird to my list. A
LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH flew in and landed in a privet next to my new bird
bath. It looked ready to hop in for a little wading, but then it noticed
all the faces staring out the window at it (we just happened to be watching
the feeders at that moment). The bird stayed less than 2 minutes.
