Of course, if you have more pixels, you can always crop a picture made w/ 
shorter lens to "zoom in" to the same area you would have w/ a longer 
lens in a "smaller" picture. But it wouldn't be the same, since the 
longer lens (i.e., the one with a higher magnification) has a smaller 
depth of field, which tends to better isolate a subject by rendering 
objects behind and in front of it as less focused. The angle of view is 
also noticeably different w/ lens of different lengths. 

Basically, there is a characteristic "look" of a pix made with a very 
long lens cannot be equaled by cropping a pix from a normal lens.

I too am interested in this camera and would love to hear comments from 
anyone who knows it. I have read reviews and find it gets high marks in 
color and sharpness.  (I have an Olympus D450Z and love the way its pix 
look.)

Another feature of the UZ 2100 which appeals to me for wildlife is that 
it comes with a remote control. Thus, it _sounds_ like it would be idea 
for bird pinups. . . . Too bad it hasn't more pixels.
