[TN-Bird] Late Report-White-winged Scoter in Crossville

On my way to Knoxville Sunday (3/2), I stopped in Crossville to check the lake
along Hwy. 70 west of town (near Cumberland Playhouse).? I traveled along the
north shoreline on Waterview Road to a cleared lot, and scoped for waterfowl.?
It was late evening (5:00) and several ducks were settled in the middle of lake
for the evening.? Present were 20+ Mallard, 4 Shoveler, 1 Ring-neck, 15
Bufflehead and 20+ Ruddy Ducks.? While scanning the entire reservoir, I picked
up a lone duck in the slough immediately across the lake (south arm).? The
head/bill shape was typical scoter, and I could barely see some pale areas on
the face.? From the distance, I could not confirm species ID.? As I watched the
bird, it began swimming northwest, toward the marina.? As it neared the western
arm of the lake, it began diving and I was able to clearly see a bright white
patch on the wing.? The bird continued to dive in the area for the remainder of
the evening, and I finally left when it was too dark
to see any additional details (5:45).
